Ben El-Baz
Managing Director, Head of Global Expansion @ HashKey Group
About
First employee at HashKey (2018), founding executive of Asia’s first licensed retail crypto exchange. Since 2018, I’ve helped shape the regulated digital asset industry in Hong Kong—co-leading early policy advocacy and playing a core role in securing HashKey’s license as the first exchange approved to serve retail investors under the SFC’s regulatory framework. As the company’s first Chief Strategy Officer, I led our regulatory formation strategy with support from our Chairman and helped architect our licensing application and compliance framework. Beyond licensing, I directed HashKey’s first blockchain development partnerships with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, the Bank for International Settlements, and Singapore’s IMDA—including serving as a strategic advisor to the HKMA’s Project Genesis green bond tokenization initiative. Over the past seven years, I’ve held multiple leadership roles across ecosystem development and global licensing—successfully driving HashKey’s regulated market entries in Dubai (VARA), Bermuda (BMA), and the EU (Central Bank of Ireland). Today, I serve as Head of Global Expansion for HashKey Group, and also as Managing Director, MENA Region, leading our exchange and markets business development across the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
