A writing fellow creates mentoring relationships with sixteen first year students to assist with the transition into college writing. Fellows become more closely involved with the first year students by attending their classes and completing class readings in order to be better informed about assignments to come. This way they can more effectively help with brainstorming, developing arguments, organizing ideas, editing and proofreading. In addition, fellows assist faculty with creating reading and writing assignments and providing feedback to better serve the students' needs.

As an admissions intern at Year Up Providence I help to recruit a class of eighty students by leading information sessions and academic assessments for prospective applicants, facilitating group interviews, conducting individual interviews and managing and updating the database while also performing daily administrative tasks.

The job of a student tutor is to assist peers in revising, restructuring, creating writing plans and editing their academic pieces in any subject across the board. Tutors do more than check for grammatical mistakes and instead delve into the piece to assure coherence, conciseness and argumentative strength .

As a cashier sales associate at V&J Deli and Grocery I guided customers through purchases, handled financial transactions, provided excellent customer service resulting in repeat business and evaluated inventory.

* Coordinate input of admissions/prospective student data into Microsoft Excel spreadsheets * Provide routine advice, guidance, and assistance to prospective students on matters related to the application policies, procedures, and documentation requirements for the admissions process. * Participate in telephone outreach and return calls and emails regarding interest in the program and invite interested parties to upcoming Information Sessions. * Support the facilitation of Information Sessions through set up of space, document set up, fielding questions from attendees and collecting and copying the required documents from applicants * Assist in management of student files as prospective students submit documents. * Coordinate in the Learning Assessment process, including scheduling/rescheduling applicants to attend, making reminder phone calls, managing the applicant’s documents, and scheduling applicants for individual interviews.

* Work collaboratively with guidance staff, principals, teachers, and other stakeholders at partner schools to increase the awareness, preparation, and college going disposition of underserved students. * Provide onsite advising and information about college, the application process, and financial aid. * Provide individualized support with college and financial aid applications. * Organize workshops and programming for students and their families. * Organize college tours and visits for students. * Track student progress toward college goals through data collection tools.
