Beatrice Bromley

I worked as a summer geology student with the New Brunswick Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Geological Surveys Branch, doing bedrock mapping/igneous geochronology studies.

As a Research Assistant in the Earth Sciences department at UNB, I studied peridotite and carbonatite melt systems through various experiments as part of my honours thesis entitled "Testing the hypothesis of identifying carbonatite vs silicate melt metasomatism".

As a Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) Leader for the Faculty of Science at UNB I helped students understand and study for entry level earth science courses ESCI1012 and ESCI1001 by providing 3 tutorial-like sessions a week. At these sessions, I go over the course material and answer any questions that the students may have, this includes special review sessions for midterms and exams.

As a research student, I analyzed clinopyroxenes from mantle xenoliths of the West Eifel region of Germany to extend our compositional database to determine the regional distribution of metasomatism and the connection to the composition of the lithospheric mantle. I had the opportunity to present this research entitled "A regional survey of CPX compositions in upper mantle xenoliths of the W. Eifel Volcanic Field, Germany", at the Atlantic Universities Geoscience Conference (AUGC) in October of 2023 at Memorial University in Newfoundland.
