Work with Alberta Sheriffs Branch staff and stakeholders to analyze business and reporting requirements and build Business Intelligence (BI) products such dashboards and maps.

Translate business requirements for data capture, storage, and reporting into technical specifications and build the desired solutions using business intelligence tools such as SAS Visual Analytics.

As part of the Enterprise Application Support team in the Information Technology Branch of Justice and Solicitor General, I work with a team of technical specialists responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of a variety of complex applications such as the Alberta Public Security Application (APSA), which is actually a suite of other applications such as Niche RMS and Intergraph CAD. I provide services to a variety of Public Security clients (Peace Officers, Sheriffs, Corrections, etc.) and my ability to understand both the business and the technology is a major factor in my success in this role.

I was the application business owner/administrator of several information systems (e.g., ENFOR, X-FIRE) used by the Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Branch (FWEB), Justice and Solicitor General. I identified and refined business requirements; assessed and approved recommended information technology solutions; prioritized and scheduled implementation activities; completed acceptance testing of implemented solutions; and completed post-implementation activities such as end-user documentation updates, etc. I was also a high-end technical user of FWEB information systems and managed the compilation, evaluation, analysis and dissemination of information related to FWEB activities, including resource law enforcement, problem wildlife management, and internal operations. I developed information products - such as reports, maps, databases, and spreadsheets - for various consumers of information both inside and outside the branch. I was the primary contact for all end-users of FWEB information systems and provided all training and support. I also provided expert advice and guidance to other sections, branches, divisions, departments and agencies regarding data collection and information management practices. I was responsible for monitoring advancements in the disciplines of data analysis, reporting and dissemination, and ensuring that new techniques are evaluated and adapted for use when appropriate.

Managed all facets of the MIMS project (software development, implementation and support, business development, staff direction and supervision, etc.). MIMS is an easy-to-use GIS-enabled application developed to assist small to medium-sized Alberta municipalities with managing their infrastructure. This project was sponsored by Alberta Municipal Affairs and Housing.
