Barry Sum has over 29 years of engineering experience in Hong Kong and Asia. He has spent significant of his time in SEA in the last 10 years. He has been stationed in Bangkok for nearly one year for a metro project in 2009. He is familiar with the infrastructure market in Hong, Kong, China, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar, Philippine, and Singapore. He obtained the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Civil & Structural Engineering from the University of Hong Kong in 1995 and 1999 respectively. He acquired the professional chartered engineer status for more than 20 years and he is now a fellow member of HKIE. Barry has extensive experience in project management, planning, detailed design, contract procurement, expenditure control, contract management and administration of multi-disciplinary transportation infrastructure projects under various sectors such as aviation, highways, traffic & transport planning, rail & transit, ports & marine, tunnels & bridges, etc. He plays a significant role in overseeing all the major infrastructure projects to resolve major design and construction challenges. In addition to Barry’s daily works, he is also actively participating in the various industry societies. He was the past Chairman of the Association of Consulting Engineers of HK, Secretary of HKIE Civil Discipline Advisory Panel, committee member of HKIE Geotechnical Division and past chairman of Association of Geotechnical and Geoenviornmental Specialist (HK). He also participates in various HKIE sub-committees. Through this industry volunteer duty, he maintains a strong networking and establish his reputation in the industry.
