National Material Recycling Policy (NMRP) - Research for ferrous and non-ferrous metals under the guidance of Dr. V.K. Saraswat (Former DG DRDO and currently Member NITI Aayog) for formulating the very first NMRP. National Energy Policy (NEP) - Modeled projections for various scenarios and sectors presented in the NEP with a special focus on increasing the share of renewables and transport electrification. Part of NITI Aayog CEO's 'Core Team on Waste To Wealth Initiatives'. Worked on projects related to MSW, Plastic Waste, Waste to Energy, Used Cooking Oil, Battery Recycling & Metal Recycling. Research support for the High Level Committees on (i) Enhancing Domestic Oil & Gas Exploration & Production and (ii) Mines, Minerals & Coal. Represented NITI Aayog on the Technical Advisory Committee for India’s 3rd National Communication and Biennial Update Report to the UNFCCC. Nominated by NITI Aayog to present at the Forum on Long Term Energy Scenarios in Berlin, Germany & at KAPSARC in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. U.S. India Strategic Energy Partnership - Coordinated with U.S. agencies and Indian Ministries for activities of the Sustainable Growth Pillar housed at NITI Aayog. Played an instrumental role in organizing the Inaugural India Energy Modeling Forum. India Energy Dashboards - Led the NITI Aayog initiative to create a one stop shop of all Energy Data of India. India Energy Security Scenarios (IESS) 2047 Version 3.0 - Led the updation and improvement efforts on IESS 2047 V3, the GoI’s long-term energy scenario building tool. GIS Energy Map of India - Coordinated the NITI Aayog-ISRO partnership to develop a web- based information system for mapping all the energy assets of India. Coordinated and provided research support for NITI Aayog's collaborations with international and domestic agencies, academia and industry bodies to strengthen India's energy & emissions data, conduct workshops, facilitate pilots and produce reports.

Deputed to MHA by NITI Aayog to monitor & evaluate developmental activities in 35 Left Wing Extremism affected districts that are part of the PM's Aspirational Districts Programme. Responsible for the thematic areas of Financial Inclusion, Skill Development and Basic Infrastructure. Activities undertaken: 1. Tracked progress of districts by way of field visits and data analysis using MIS reports & surveys. 2. Prepared policy briefs for senior leadership. 3. Facilitated the deployment of ground level resources by way of Aspirational District Fellows.

Graduate study in Mineral and Energy Economics at Mines offers a specialized program in applied economics that includes training in valuable quantitative methods. We have a team of faculty who are actively engaged in economic research applied to Earth, Energy and the Environment topics. Our faculty have specific expertise in Global Climate Policy, Price Forecasting, Energy Demand, Utility Regulation, Asset Valuation, Critical Minerals, Environmental Economics, and Renewable Energy Mandates, International Mineral Markets. This concentration of interest and expertise cannot be found in traditional economics programs. The M.S. degree in Mineral and Energy Economics is the Division's most popular program. In the first year students are trained in the core skills necessary for graduate-level economic analysis of energy, mineral and environmental topics. In the second year students, in consultation with their advisor, customize their studies by selecting a set of enriching electives.

The solutions to society's existing and emerging energy challenges require interdisciplinary approaches integrating economics and business with the technical knowledge of energy systems and implications for our environment. The Energy Business and Finance (EBF) program in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences offers such a transformative approach by integrating the study of energy economics and decision-making within an engineering department. The John and Willie Leone Family Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering is one of the few in the world to place both engineering and energy economics education under the same academic roof. The EBF program emphasizes risk analysis and decision-making related to energy systems and environmental issues. Students are challenged to examine problems using rigorous quantitative analysis. EBF graduates have strong employment opportunities in the energy sector, and are well trained to enter both law and business school.
