Austin Smith

My passion for agriculture travels back to growing up on cattle stations in the Kimberleys, Western Australia. This passion flowed through into my studies, where I completed a Bachelor of Agriculture and then an Honours of Animal Science at Murdoch University. I took an opportunity whilst at university to attend an ICMJ conference in Wagga Wagga. Through this, I had the opportunity to be a part of the Australian ICMJ meat judging team and represent Australia in the USA. My journey through ICMJ exposed me to considerable opportunities within the agricultural industry, which led me to my current role as a graduate with the Australian Agricultural Company (AACo). I have continued to be apart of ICMJ, attending the Rockhampton conference with AACo as both a competitor and coach, where I have achieved Individual Champion and Champion Alumni. Through my continual journey from boots to suits, I have been involved in a range of experiences, from pastural operations, intensive breeding programs to corporate data analytics. Through these experiences I had developed my knowledge and skills. I have strived to be hardworking, driven, and enthusiastic towards all types of tasks. I enjoy challenging myself, I am adaptable to change and can thrive in stressful conditions. I think clearly under pressure and work effectively in all situations. I always aim to pursue a safe, sustainable, and fun work environment for colleagues, animals, and land I work with.
