Aubin Gastineau

As a Design Director and Senior Associate, I oversee the design of small—to large-scale projects in the United States and overseas, working closely with high-profile clients across various sectors. I specialize in mixed-use, residential, and hospitality developments, which require a thoughtful balance of functionality, experience, and context. I lead project teams through all phases of design and present proposals and progress drawings to ensure alignment with client goals and satisfaction. I am also actively involved in project pursuits, helping shape design vision and strategy from the earliest stages. My work is grounded in design innovation. I integrate data-driven approaches and emerging tools such as artificial intelligence to push the boundaries of architectural exploration. Sustainability remains a key focus, and I have supported several environmentally conscious initiatives throughout my career. Beyond project work, I mentor junior staff and engage with local schools and universities to support architectural education. I believe in cultivating a collaborative studio culture grounded in creativity, learning, and forward-thinking design.

As an architectural designer, I focused on hospitality projects across Asia, ranging from high-end resorts to urban hotels. I worked on architectural and interior scopes, contributing to projects from concept to completion. My role included developing complex geometries and exploring parametric design tools to create unique, context-driven spaces. I was passionate about crafting guest experiences that were immersive, elegant, and responsive to both place and purpose. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, I supported design development, visualization, and documentation, always striving for innovation and design excellence.

Shanghai ORIA Planning & Design was established in 2013 and has branches in several cities in China. ORIA is composed of a young and dynamic team. The designers have international experience in Europe and Asia. ORIA privileges individual strengths and turns them into a collective goal. ORIA works on a lot of programs and has become specialized in office development, commercial and hotel / residential, various scales, ranging from architectural design to urban planning projects, are everywhere in China. ORIA is committed to the quality of the space, ambience, and construction details. ORIA gradually specialized in sustainable development by providing quality environmental design to its projects from the design phase.
