The objective(s) of this research is to analyse a potential additive (QF, quarry fines) to stabilise dredge spoils enabling the use of these materials as road embankment materials, and general fill. This objective will be met by a combination of geomechanical tests, batch and column leaching tests, and computer modelling. Shear testing will also be done to define the stability of embankments or fill materials. These geomechanical, i.e., screening, tests are conducted in the Geotechnical Lab and Environmental lab of UMD and the data is shared to State Highway Administration, Maryland as part of an ongoing agreement between MPA and SHA.

ENCE 444 -- Experimental Methods in Geotechnical Engineering Demonstrated major soils testing and their interpretation including classification, compaction, strength, and compressibility. Graded the Lab reports submitted by the undergraduates.

Geotechnical Intern
Chantilly, Virginia
Performed construction supervision of placement of concrete and backfilling activities. Inspected drilling and installation of Soilder beams for SOE Conducted proof testing and performance testings for tie backs of SOE Examined Underpinning and inspected suitable subgrade Supervised borings and test pits and classified soils by USCS and USDA soil textural classification system. Monitored Pressuremeter test for in-situ soil testing. Inspected the installation of Caissons Preparation of Borelog using ECS in-built software

Geotechnical Intern

•Successfully collaborated with the team members to draft a report on Geotechnical Soil Investigation so as to ascertain the Soil condition for the assessment of ultimate axial pile capacity, load-deformation data for open-ended tubular piles for the platform and estimation of Jack-up rig penetration for standard ONGC rig. •Grain size distribution, Atterberg Limits, and UU (Triaxial) tests were performed by the group and the soil conditions at the locations have been interpreted up to a depth of 107.05 from the CPTU, onboard and onshore laboratory tests result. • It was found that there is a potential of punch-through in the site due to the combination of soil layers existing near the seafloor and a separate analysis of the laterally loaded individual pile of the Jackets of Oil rigs in the soil (a mixture of sand and clay) was done using PLAXIS 2D software.
