High Honors Thesis: Beat it!: The Use of Beat Gestures in Learning Japanese Vowel Length Distinctions Applying the theory of Embodied Cognition, trained native English speakers to differentiate Japanese phonemes. Used electroencephalography to measure neural correlates as human participants learned the task.

Investigated how native Japanese speakers distinguish the Japanese phonemes of long and short (i.e. single and geminate vowel) vowel in the Japanese language.
