As SickKids begins the work to undergo a major campus redevelopment (known as Project Horizon), I will lead the change management and engagement efforts as we transform our workplace culture as well as transforming our clinical space to modernize how we deliver care. It is my goal to engage staff, using human centered design, so that they feel that they are a part of the change. I want the change to be 'done with', rather than 'done to'. I will develop and implement a framework to ensure that this can happen successfully, focusing on the people side of change.

* Establish positive, lasting relationships with patients, families and the interprofessional team * Precept new staff and orient them to the unit, while also being a mentor to new nursing students * Spearheaded an initiative to support nurses in bereavement by providing opportunities for team building and reflection * Expert in Palliative Care – member of the hospital wide End-of-Life Resource Team * Provide patients with top of the line care and create positive memories during their hospital stay * Improved the functionality of the supply system by participating in a ‘Rapid Improvement Event’ that resulted in a $6100 savings to the unit * Member of the Quality Leadership Team

* Illustrated gaps in the patient transfer process from PICU to the Paediatrics Floor * Gathered data from the medical team by shadow shifts and focus groups consisting of the Medical Admitting Team MDs * Implementing various ideas to make the transfer process positive for all stakeholders

As RN Council Co Chair I devote 50% of my FTE to be a dedicated voice for Nursing at Sick Kids by chairing, and sitting on mulitple hospital wide committees. Directly, I mentor 32 nurses who are elected as RN council representatives. As Co Chair I find importance in highlighting the strenghts of nursing in my organization, inspiring and empowering my coworkers. This is a 2 year term that I am determined to make the most of.
