Kurram Tangi Multi-Purpose Hydropower Project (Stage-I, 18.4 MW) • Consultant: Mot MacDonald’s Pakistan (MMP) • Contractor: My Team (550 Manpower) • Subcontractors: AREAA (Turkey), MHCE, CPM • Project Budget: 61 Million USD (230 Million SAR) • Project Start Date: March 2016 • Expected Completion Date: October 2027 The captioned project commenced in March 2016. The planned completion date, as per EoT-3, is December 2024, with an expected completion date in October 2027. The total cost of the project is approximately 17 billion PKR. This project is being executed by the Water & Power Development Authority (WAPDA) under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) funding, with additional support from a USAID grant. The consultancy is being provided by Mot MacDonald's Pakistan (MMP), while I worked with the General Contractor, FWO-DESCON JV. The subcontractors involved are AREAA (a Turkish company), MHCE, and CPM. The scope of works under my responsibility focused on civil works and included the construction of a weir at the Keitu River, two lined trapezoidal-shaped canals featuring multiple cross drainage structures such as culverts, siphons, and aqueducts, along with major and minor distributaries. Additionally, the project involved the construction of a pump room, a silt excluder, three tunnels, and two powerhouses, each comprising a headrace channel, forebay, penstock, powerhouse, tailrace, switchyard, and flushing sluice & spillway. The work also included the development of access roads along the canals, powerhouses, the main dam (Stage-II, 65.5 MW), the pump room for lift canals, and the weir.

The building is being completed in all respects, including structural, architectural, plumbing, HVAC, fire fighting system (FFS), fire alarm system (FAS), and information and communications technology (ICT). Additionally, the project involves the construction of a WAPDA metering room, LT & HT rooms, a water supply and sewerage network, a drainage system, access roads, and various other ancillary works.
