Senior leader with 20+ years of professional and research experience in energy efficient, high performance building design and operation, as well as environmentally sustainable urban communities. As dbHMS’ East Coast practice lead and project manager, work across multiple disciplines - architecture, MEP, and urban planning - to direct the design process maintaining uncompromising quality control at each phase. Have worked on numerous large scale educational, institutional, high-rise mixed use and master plan developments both in the US and internationally integrating and delivering efficient technologies, HVAC systems and solutions for projects. From design concept to construction, act as a liaison between owners, developers, architects, design/construction team to maintain communication and coordination among the project team. Arvinder’s design philosophy is to listen and understand each client’s needs and present system options with an eye towards appropriate energy efficiency vs. investment balance, performing in-depth analysis to drive decisions. With accumulated knowledge and expertise in building energy, life cycle cost assessment and daylight responsive design have helped deliver award winning designs with demonstrated reduction in operating energy consumption, and better indoor environmental quality.

Design and manage a broad range of sustainability projects. Lead and direct a team of building performance analysts in conducting technical evaluations using simulation tools and calculations to assess the environmental performance of various green building strategies and system alternates, optimizing designs to provide enhanced comfort while reducing operating energy consumption. Investigations include: I Radiation Modeling I Energy Optimization I Daylight and Glare Analysis I I Natural Ventilation Studies I Condensation analysis I I Water calculation I Renewable Energy Assessment I Benchmarking I I Green Rating Evaluation and Documentation I Life Cycle Analysis I I Preliminary Infrastructure Sizing I • Comprehensive knowledge of building performance standards and energy codes • Core expertise in energy optimization of building envelopes, HVAC and Lighting. • Extensive experience with several sustainability assessment and certifi cation systems like LEED, Green Star, Green Building Index, etc. Actively engaged with SOM’s City Design Group on both local and international large scale master plans. • Lead sustainable strategy development, target setting and design of conceptual infrastructure frameworks that enable development of low carbon, resilient and healthy livable communities. • Prime liaison role with international environmental and engineering consultants assessing methodology, calculations and utility approaches presented for large urban projects; provide recommendations as well as educate clients on next generation infrastructure strategies. As part of project management team plan and lead work streams for sustainable design initiatives on numerous projects. • Responsible for proposal & scope development , budget & resource planning, and revenue management. • Working with planners and PM’s across offi ces (Chicago, London, SF and NY) increased business and revenue generation for the group by over 50%.

Support the sustainable design team and other market forces in delivering and documenting sustainable building technologies and strategies for their projects. Provide whole building energy & life cycle cost analysis, computational fluid dynamics simulation, and other modeling solutions necessary to assist integrated design solutions for projects. Provide LEED® consultancy and documentation assistance. Experience with LEED® for New Construction, Commercial Interiors and Existing Buildings
