Arnie de Castro

Arnie de Castro is a Product Manager for Industry Products at SAS in Cary, North Carolina. He has over 35 years of experience in building commercial software and in teaching, research and consulting in electric utility operations and resource management. Prior to working with SAS, Arnie managed the development of enterprise market analytic software applications that are widely used in industry for electrical power system optimization, electrical price forecasting and energy transaction risk analysis. He developed and maintained long-term capacity planning, mid-term resource optimization and short-term unit commitment and economic dispatch software. He has also written simulation software and provided consulting on power system network planning and operations. Arnie has a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech, and has taught graduate and undergraduate courses in Electric Power Systems. His published work covers power system simulation and optimization, decision analysis applications in the utility industry, and energy and emissions modeling.
