Arnav Desai

Designed an AI-driven CAD modelling system using machine learning and representation learning to learn geometric and parametric patterns from existing designs, enabling faster generation and modification of CAD models. Leveraged multimodal inputs (sketches, text prompts, design parameters, and geometry features) to guide model predictions, allowing users to move from concept to editable CAD geometry more efficiently. Integrated constraint-aware design logic (dimensions, symmetry, manufacturability rules) to ensure generated models remain valid, editable, and engineering-ready, improving both design efficiency and creative exploration.

Developed an LLM-powered bank statement analysis system using Ollama (Mistral) to extract structured transaction data from diverse statement formats, including inconsistent layouts and noisy text. Built a transaction parsing with normalisation pipeline (standardising dates, amounts, merchant names, and descriptions) and implemented automated credit/debit detection with rule checks for edge cases (refunds, reversals, fees) using Pandas library. Added automated transaction classification into meaningful categories and generated financial summaries (monthly cashflow, top merchants, recurring payments, spend breakdowns) for quick analysis.

Served as the Secretary of the Student Integration Committee, one of the largest organisations within the NTU Students’ Union, where we organise university-wide events to promote cultural diversity and inclusion. In this role, I oversaw administrative operations, including managing documentation, meeting minutes, and official communications. I worked closely with committee members to coordinate large-scale cultural events, ensuring smooth execution through effective logistics planning and budget oversight. Additionally, I acted as a key liaison between the committee, the NTU Students’ Union, student bodies, and external partners, facilitating seamless collaboration. I contributed to strategic planning by developing initiatives that foster cross-cultural engagement, while ensuring adherence to university policies and regulations. My role also involved team management, task delegation, and resource allocation to drive impactful and inclusive student experiences.

Served as the Treasurer of SEDS-NTU, a student-led organisation dedicated to advancing space-related initiatives and events in Singapore. In this role, I oversaw financial planning, budgeting, and resource allocation, ensuring efficient fund management for research projects, technical workshops, and outreach programs. I was responsible for expense monitoring, financial reporting, and compliance, ensuring transparency and adherence to university financial policies. Additionally, I led fundraising efforts, sponsorship acquisition, and grant applications, securing funding from both internal and external sources to support our initiatives. By collaborating with the executive team, I aligned financial strategies with the organisation’s long-term goals, enabling SEDS-NTU to drive impactful space-related innovations and educational opportunities.

Represented Mexico and was recognised as a Special Delegate in the INTERPOL Committee at the DiPS Model United Nations, the annual school debate event where I addressed critical matters of international concern, including human trafficking, money laundering, and animal trafficking. My role involved researching global crime networks, formulating policy recommendations, and engaging in high-level diplomatic negotiations to develop actionable solutions. Additionally, I contributed to discussions on INTERPOL’s role in strategic guidance and law enforcement advisory, focusing on terrorism and cybercrime. Through this experience, I honed my public speaking, analytical thinking, and crisis management skills, while collaborating with delegates to propose strategies for combating transnational crime.
