Starting my professional life in the shipping industry with Wilhelmsen Ships Services as a documentation officer, I was responsible in the tracking and update of shipping containers in liaison with all the global carriers and the multiple ports in Saudi Arabia. My dream was in the financial sector, to which I was able to get a position as Trade Finance Operations analyst at the Bank Muscat, Riyadh branch in 2009. I managed the department and was able to land a number of key accounts in the petrochemical industry that cemented the Bank Muscat name in the Saudi banking scene. I left Bank Muscat as their Head of Financial Institution – Transaction Banking in 2016 to buildup commodity trading business, Tjara Aloula. Tjara Aloula is a physical commodities trading firm, focusing on the North and Eastern African geographies as well as the Indian sub-continent for the supply of various products, which ranged from agricultural raw materials to metals and chemicals. All the ups and downs of the physical commodities market with its dynamic nature and challenges is what led me into the promising fields of e-commerce and payments, which I’m pursuing with fervor as they are undoubtedly changing the future of global commerce.
