Applying Big Data Analytics to solve problems in Biomedical, Engineering and Supply Chain.

I am responsible for leading a group of offshore developers for designing, coding, coding, testing and implementing of K-12 software solutions. This includes OLAP and data warehousing software solutions, and web enabling legacy K-12 software. I also participate as data architect in alternatives and feasibility of various technologies and in the selection of appropriate technology for the solution.

I was responsible for pre-sales and leading a team of 30 offshore developers in designing, coding, debugging, testing and implementing JAVA based B2B e-commerce, business intelligence and supply chain management software based on Oracle 8i for the client companies including Fortune 50 clients like Texas Instruments and Johnson Controls. The software is based on J2EE with EJB. The system uses Apache Struts framework with Java Servlets, JSP and JAVA applets. I interfaced with business users to understand their business processes and business requirements to formulate and investigate technical solutions to perform those business functions more effectively. I also participated in system analysis and design, database design and implementation, user interface design and implementation and system and database tuning.

I worked for the Industrial Automation and Controls Division, which delivers software and hardware solutions for different industry verticals like Hydrocarbon processing, Pharmaceuticals and Power Generation. I was Project Lead and Consultant, working with Honeywell's major clients like UNOCAL, ARCO and STAR CONVENT Refineries for delivering Software Solutions on various platforms. These were multi-million dollars projects. I worked on various teams of 10-30 people, understanding client's business needs, preparing functional documents, performing gap analysis and implementing software solutions. I also interfaced directly with clients throughout project development and implementation. In addition to this, I made project proposals including project budgeting, tracking projects and communicating with clients on project progress. Also, I participated in re-engineering business processes to ensure maximum effectiveness and efficiency, particularly as it applies to the features and functionality of the new software. In addition, worked on Multi-variable Control and Real Time Optimization of Processes in Refineries including Crude Unit, FCC, Hrdrocrackers, etc. Implemented systems in VAX VMS, Unix, Honeywell TDC 3000 and lower level controllers.

Worked on Customer related projects for Brown & Root Braun, a Halliburton subsidiary. This included: Plant Information Management System for Ras Tanura Refinery, Saudi Arabia. This was a $50 million dollar project involving Plant Automation and Advanced Process Control. Prepared detailed functional design specifications for Plantwide and Unit Optimizers, Equipment Performance modeling, data reconciliation and Operations Planning & Scheduling. In addition performed a Structured System Analysis using CASE tools, Systems Design using Entity-Relationship & Data Flow Diagram, implemented the database in Informix. On-Line Process Modeling & Simulation System for Husky Bi-Provincial Upgrader, Lloydmininster, Canada. This was a $ 1.2 million dollar project. The objectives of the project were to optimize process performance, reduce energy consumption and increase refinery profitability. I participated in the project commissioning, implementation, testing, detailed design and functional design phase. Interfaced directly with the client throughout the project. Implementation included approx. 20,000 lines of code written in C which was implemented from scratch.

Designed new methods and developed proof-of-concept software for simulation and optimization of Chemical Processes. The POC utilized advanced methodologies for solution strategies, equation formulations and data storage for large problems. It was implemented in C language (approx 15,000 lines of code). In addition I presented the research findings in International Journals and Conferences.

Worked as a Shift In-charge for oil gathering wells, leading a team of 10-15 people. Supervised various workover oil rig operations including well testing and completion in Mehsana oil field.

Dissertation: Steady State Simulation of Chemical Processes The dissertation provides a unified approach for steady state simulation of single and multistage separation processes in chemical processing. Presented the finding of the study in number of articles in International Journals and Conferences.

Dissertation: Model for Asphaltene Flocculation using an Equation of State. This study provides a method for calculation of deposition heavy hydrocarbons. An implementation of the method is also provided
