Electrical Power Engineering is subfield of Energy Engineering that deals with the generation, transmission, distribution and utilization of electric power and the electrical devices connected to such systems including generators, motors and transformers. With this field of study Master's are trained to design projects of electrical installations, distribution and transmission networks or classical and nuclear power plants. Also, they are able to do jobs of projecting and maintenance facilities in the factories of electric products and others, planning, operation and maintenance of electric power systems and Project Management in all financial institutions. Likewise, Master's of Electrical Power Engineering are qualified to work in the institutions of the market and those who trade in electricity and in and development and scientific institutions.

Electrical engineering is based on mathematics and physics, but includes knowledge important for creative engineering activity. There are two main phenomena included: the use of electricity for production, transmission, distribution and use of energy and the use of electricity for coverage, transmission, processing, storage, use and display of information. Also, there is no activity within electrical engineering that is not interconnected with information technology. Because of that, these areas are joined in this undergraduate program. In the end, this program develops the competencies to analyze and solve complex engineering problems, to work in a team and to compose systems, components and processes with the use of basic knowledge of mathematics, physics, electrical engineering and information technology.
