Anthony Vargas

I am grateful for the opportunity to turn personal challenges into triumphs. During my childhood, I endured debilitating migraines, which ultimately led to the discovery of a growing arachnoid cyst that had gone undetected for nearly eight years. After a successful brain surgery and a full recovery, I look back on that experience with profound gratitude for the resilience and perspective it instilled in me, values that continue to shape who I am today. -Empathy: I approach the world with a strong connection to those around me, and I aspire to become a valuable resource to others in my future career within the medical field. -Creativity: Film was always an avenue that greatly encouraged me during times of hardship in my youth. Through these experiences, I developed a passion for storytelling and hope to spark similar inspiration in others through media production. -Perseverance: While I could no longer pursue my initial passion for football, I discovered a new community in basketball. This sport has pushed me through various recovery processes, fostering personal growth and excellence in both my sport and overall health. My journey serves as a reminder to support others in their pursuits and to find solace in the rewards of perseverance. -Hope: As a student at Emory University, I am excited to translate my beliefs and ambitions into meaningful contributions to the campus community and society at large. My goal is to empower young athletes, whether through orthopedic care or through documenting inspirational sports stories behind the camera.
