Anthony Sabatelli

The Graduate School Alumni Association Executive Committee is the alumni leadership board for the Graduate School. I have served on this board since 2006 and was elected chair in 2014.

I am a patent lawyer with Dilworth IP, a law firm in Trumbull, Connecticut. I provide insightful, quality legal services to help my clients in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, construct business-oriented patent strategies, and secure robust and defensible patents for their inventions. I really listen to my clients. I understand their needs and obtain the appropriate data and information to create for them a desired and useful work product. I have a PhD in organic chemistry and quickly learn and become proficient with the diverse technology areas of my clients. I also stand apart from other patent practitioners because I have over twenty years of in-house legal experience in the biotech, pharmaceutical, and consumer products industries. I have also served as an integral member of a senior management team, and early on in my career had hands-on R&D and product development experience as a research scientist, where I was named an inventor on a dozen patents. Because of my in-house legal, management, and scientific experience, I truly understand the needs and business realities of my clients and why responsiveness is so important. In essence, I was once the client. I effectively communicate with my clients to provide the best possible services. I have also had experience dealing with complex regulatory issues and can provide uniquely useful service to clients whose businesses operate at the challenging intersection of patent and regulatory law. For all these reasons and more, I am known not just as a patent attorney, but rather an exclusivity attorney, because I help my clients obtain the best exclusivity position for their business.
