Annalise Khandelwal

Undergraduate Student Intern @ Los Alamos National Laboratory

About

I am a recent graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science and a minor in Neuroscience. My academic background and hands-on experiences have centered on the intersections of ecosystem processes, climate science, and community-centered sustainability. I am now preparing to pursue a master’s degree in Environmental Health to deepen my impact at the interface of science, health, and policy. I’ve conducted independent research on root dynamics and ecosystem processes through competitive programs at Los Alamos National Laboratory and Oregon State University. My work involved analyzing root system dynamics through image-based methods and field measurements, developing strong skills in environmental data analysis, research design, and problem-solving. In addition to research, I served as Director of Sustainability in Ohio State’s Undergraduate Student Government, where I led policy initiatives and campus-wide programming focused on climate advocacy and environmental education. I also founded the Water and Climate Collective in my role as Student Engagement Coordinator at the Byrd Polar and Climate Research Center and the Global Water Institute, building a team of over 40 undergraduates dedicated to climate justice and sustainability outreach. These experiences have equipped me with strong skills in data analysis, leadership, scientific communication, and cross-sector collaboration. I am especially passionate about understanding and addressing environmental health disparities, and I hope to build a career that advances equity-driven, evidence-based environmental solutions. Let’s connect to collaborate on research, advocacy, or sustainability initiatives!
