Design Engineer working on Integrated Microwave Assemblies (IMA's)

* Serve as Principal Investigator on GaN based high power SSPA research programs and oversee technical progress of 5 staff engineers. * Developed first ever ultra broadband Spatium SSPA prototype at mmWave and lower frequency planar module for EW customers. * Effort resulted in industry first prototype deliveries to customers and expansion of Qorvo’s SSPA IP portfolio with 10 breakthrough patents.

* Lead Microwave Design Engineering team of highly talented Engineers. * Plan individual workload per overall team targets on regular basis and adjust strategy as needed. * Hire new talent in response to rapid growth of team. * Develop templates and design documents for various product gates to provide consistency in team output. * Assist in product strategy development and provide man-loading structure to upper management. * Develop individual growth plans for all team members to ensure we maintain a challenging environment. * Design spatium based high power Solid State Power Amplifiers in 2-40GHz range. * Directly manage projects from design-assembly-test phase. * Work with foundry to incorporate next generation GaN devices into spatium technology. * Develop platforms with new architectures and scale designs to higher frequencies. * Aid in proposal writing process by generating concept renderings and designs. * Perform detailed analysis on MMIC transition antennas. * Serve as EM specialist in Engineering design team.

* Responsible for RF design, fabrication, mechanical assembly and testing for various DARPA projects. * Leverage Polystrata fabrication process to design novel mm wave structures. * Work with design team to develop next generation concepts for DARPA proposals. Contribute to new proposals and quarterly customer reports. * Participate in External and internal meetings to ensure on time progress of projects. * Design and analyze SSPA architecture. Design power combining, routing and MMIC transition structures. Perform electrical and full mechanical layout. * Next generation combiners architecture based on waveguide and microcoax transmission lines. Designed and fabricated up to 32 way combiners. * Heavy focus on mechanical workload of team. Handle all design/drafting and machining aspects of deliverable prototypes. Highly familiar with machining tolerances and best practices. Direct Interface with machine shops. Seek out new qualified suppliers to support cutting edge designs. * Develop baseline transmission line structure design at X, KA,W and G Band.

* Oversee assigned TWT product types and maintain a smooth production environment. * Use 3D EM simulation tools for analyze and trouble shoot production engineering issues. * Design and simulate output matching structures in HFSS. * Design TWT Periodic Permanent Magnet (PPM) stacks using Maxwell 2D. Use magnetic measurement apparatus to measure on axis magnetic field. * Utilize in 1D house programs to characterize helix slow wave structures and Electron guns. * Perform failure analysis through data acquisition. Support design group by providing test data as needed. * Work with machine shop and various departments to ensure low failure rates.
