Anirban Sengupta

Anirban is currently an Assistant Director of the Asia Pacific Fraud Analytics team at HSBC’s International Wealth and Premier Banking (IWPB) business. Previously, he worked as a Senior AVP at Wells Fargo’s Decision Modeling Team (formerly RMG – Risk Modeling Group), where he specialized in building real-time fraud detection models using cutting-edge machine learning techniques, including XGBoost, Random Forest, LightGBM, and Neural Networks. His models were deployed across various lines of business—spanning applications, transactions, and bill payments enhancing fraud prevention at scale. Before Wells Fargo, Anirban held key roles at Citicorp, HSBC focusing on credit risk strategy and portfolio risk analytics. He played a pivotal role in enhancing strategic frameworks like Credit Line Increase (CLI), Credit Line Decrease (CLD), and Initial Line Assignment (ILA). His initiatives received approvals at the CRO level, balancing risk with business growth. With over seven years of experience in machine learning, statistical modeling, credit and fraud risk analytics, and managing both secured and unsecured products, Anirban brings deep domain expertise and cross-functional insight. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Production and Industrial Engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, where he built a strong foundation in Industrial Statistics and Production Economics. Anirban’s technical toolkit includes PySpark, Python, Tigergraph,SAS Enterprise Guide and a wide array of Machine learning and Deep Learning algorithms.
