As Deputy Commander, I focused on the management of finance, and HR related responsibilities: job creation, recruitment, mentoring, coaching, and discipline. I acted as Commanding Officer as needed and supervised 10 direct reports. Key Achievements: Facilitated new job creation for eight hires; crafted job descriptions and obtained $480k in funding for said roles. Developed and managed the organizations budget.

As an Independent Consultant, I provide consulting services locally and abroad. I apply LEAN methods to support the areas of strategic planning, human resources management, operations consulting, financial consulting, and management controls. Key Achievements: Streamlined resources and boosted engineering design process within the Engineering Department of a Calgary-based Engineering Procurement Construction Management (EPCM) firm. After identifying three key factors with high customer impact—price, time, quality—I crafted an effective strategic plan based on these factors. Facilitated SR&ED grant application process for another local EPCM; resulted in $100k grant application being approved. Re-configured entire organizational structure of a Mongolian aggregate company in the energy sector (copper mining). I implemented IT systems and policies to support more efficient operations and coordinated new financial management and human resources policies, including direction on staff management which resolved existing compensation issues.

I managed daily operations and training and detachments across Western Canada. I served as a key decision maker and active contributor to the strategic direction and development of the organization. Key Achievements: Designed and implemented individual and team-focused training programs. I identified weaknesses and built on strengths of each member to create a collaborative team environment. Worked on a team that restructured recruiting centre operations and personnel, including the closure of certain detachments across Western Canada. Prepared for the physical transition from Harry Hayes Building to a new, downtown location. Collaborated with my team to coordinate IT resources, ensuring minimal downtime and zero impact affecting productivity.

This multifaceted role involved overall accountability for communications related to current and future missions. I supported the Director with administration, and served as Aide de Camp (confidential assistant/trusted advisor) to the Deputy Director, with oversight of a $300k budget. Key Achievements: Awarded Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal for excellence in leadership and management. Supported the integration of Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL). This effort improved decision-making and information technology processes. Instructed Joint C4 Planners Course. Leveraging an exceptional understanding of strategic and tactical environments and systems, I provided education to members across the US on doctrinal concepts in Joint, Interagency, and Coalition environments, highlighting technical aspects within deliberate and crisis action planning processes. Created and implemented information technology communications support plans for 2009 Pittsburg G20, and 2010 Toronto G8/G20.
