Green Technology, Data & Infrastructure Workstream of the Product Innovation & Solutions Working Group -Focus on emerging sustainable financing products and solutions, promote ESG data and green technology innovation to accelerate transition to net zero in Hong Kong, the GBA & beyond. - Coordinate and promote industry thought leadership research, capacity building, workshop, member engagement/networking events, industry initiatives, etc.

Guest lecturer for the Module: Climate Risks and Financial Stability

Work with other committee memebers on promoting understanding and awareness of ESG-related topics that impact the PWM industry. The committee will be responsible for advising on ESG priorities, objectives and to propose initiatives with the goal of further integrating sustainability into member firms' strategy and operations.

I believe the business world can be part of the sustainability solution offering instead of the problem creating. And the World cannot achieve its sustainability goal without the contribution from the business community. ERM's business purpose is "shaping a sustainable future with the world's leading organizations". I really like the verb “shaping” as, for me, it means creating new meaning for business that functions with re-setting purposes and puts SDGs in the hearts of organizations. This is very exciting and motivating when I do this as my job with my team every day.

I led the M&A Services in ERM China and Hong Kong on ESG advisory services and due diligence for financial clients, including private equity (PEs), equator principle financial institutions (EPFIs), and bilateral and multilateral development banks. My team and I advised on over 100 PE transactions in the recent three years. Engagements comprise due diligence support, incorporating sustainability improvements to 100-day plans, supporting Responsible Investment /ESG management systems/policy development, and delivering resource efficiency and value enhancement within portfolio companies. Over the years, I have participated in over 400 compliance ESG or EHS audits or site assessment projects in Hong Kong, Macau, China, Taiwan, Philippines, Myanmar, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Laos.

It was a dream come true. When I was an undergraduate in the HKU Environmental Science stream, every one of us knew that ERM is the best environmental consultancy firm in the world. I was in the Air & Noise Team and my job was still EM&A. The training in ERM is very different that as an assistant consultant, I need to work on projects of every team! I gained experience in doing all kinds of consultancy services, including noise measurement, airbags sampling, fishery surveys, overseas HAZOP study, landfill waste auditing, land contamination assessment, and most importantly, environmental due diligence (EDD). After some time of widespread exposure, I decided to join the Corporate Advisory and Transaction and focus on due diligence, health and safety, and sustainability advisory services.

The Year 2003 was a difficult year in Hong Kong (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome). I still remember when I was on my way to the office/site, everyone was wearing their masks! My major duty in Arup was running the Environmental Monitoring and Audit (EM&A) programme for various construction projects. After one year I gradually took part in some EIA projects as well. The Environmental Team was not too big but everyone is top class consultant! I am glad to have the chance to work and learn from them in the early stage of my career.

The first job of my career. Right after my graduation from UEA, I came back to Hong Kong with my aspiration to be an environmental professional. It wasn't easy to find a job (the economy was quite bad)! My major duty is to set up and maintain EMS at various construction sites (for both Building and Civil projects). This job paved the way for me to become an environmental consultant one year later...
