• Strategy development: Develop and implement a comprehensive ESMS and ESG/Climate strategy that aligns with the organization’s goals and objectives • ESG Integration: Collaborating with various departments to embed ESG/Climate considerations into business processes, supply chain management, and investment decisions. • Reporting: Overseeing the preparation and publication of sustainability reports, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards. • Risk Management: Assess potential sustainability-related risks, develop mitigation strategies, and monitor emerging trends and regulations in the ESG landscape • Stakeholder engagement: Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers, investors, customers, employees, and regulatory bodies, to promote transparency and address ESG /Climate concerns • Business leads: Identify and communicate sustainable business opportunities to the relevant teams • Training: Prepare training materials and execute trainings to different levels within the organization • Corporate Governance: Establish and maintain strong governance frameworks, policies, and accountability mechanisms to ensure ESG compliance as well as responsible business practices. • Social Responsibility: Working with the Foundation to drive social initiatives related to diversity and inclusion, community engagement, employee well-being, human rights, and impact creation. • Environmental Sustainability: Identify and manage environmental impact areas in operations, such as carbon emissions, waste management, resource consumption, and renewable energy integration. • Compliance: Implementation of ESG related Guidance such as the UN Global Compact, IFC Performance Standards, PRIs, CBK Guidance on Climate-related Risks and SDGs within the Bank • Industry Leadership: Staying updated on ESG trends, standards, and best practices, and driving thought leadership within the organization and the industry.

• Establishment and running the ESG Unit • Development and implementation of ESMS, ESG Policies, procedures and tools • Environmental, social and climate risk appraisal of new transactions, including the identification of potential risks, and impacts as well as the development of appropriate action plans. • Conducting regular Social and Environmental Risk Management (ESRM) training to the bank staff and clients • Working with the Chief Risk Officer/business units regularly to review the overall environmental and Social (E & S) risks of Equity Bank’s entire portfolio. • Actively working with business units to ensure effective monitoring of obligor's environmental and social risk performance. • Overseeing the environmental and social performance of obligors together with business units, and assisting them in improving their E & S performance. • Identifying and overseeing independent consultants who will support the Environmental, social and climate risk management process. • Working on development/continuous improvement Environmental, social and climate risk assessment tools, checklists and guidelines to improve efficiency in project processing. • Conducting regular in-house environmental, social and climate risk management training. • Preparing periodically, ESG reports for different stakeholders – Board Committees, Lenders, Investors. • Assisting business units in the identification of “green”, “social” and “climate-friendly” investments. Key Achievements • Setting up and running an Environmental and Social Governance Unit. • Bank-wide Sustainable Finance awareness through intense physical and virtual training. • Improvement of the Bank E & S performance rating by IFC from 3 to 2 (unsatisfactory to satisfactory). • Initiation of the first stand-alone Sustainability Report. • Digitization of Environmental, Social and Climate risk training modules and roll out to all Bank staff, including subsidiaries level
