About
• Andy Buffler is an applied nuclear physicist and Professor in the Department of Physics at UCT, Director of the Metrological and Applied Sciences University Research Unit (MeASURe); and CEO of UCT spin-out n-lab innovation. • His research is directed mainly on the development, metrology and characterization of instrumentation, applications and facilities for fast and high energy neutrons, and his work on innovative compact neutron detectors presently includes a path towards commercialization. • He is chairing the UCT Proton Therapy Initiative, which aims to re-establish in Southern Africa a centre for cancer treatment with proton beams, together with a secondary cyclotron facility at UCT for radioisotope production and research.
