About
I'm a doctor of quantitative psychology with a focus on psychometrics, particularly item response theory, structural equation modeling, factor analysis and classical test theory. My theoretical research interests include estimation and goodness-of-fit of item response theory and factor analysis models, and my applied interests are psychological measurement, educational assessment, and measurement within public health. My coursework has allowed me to attain a broad analytic skillset that I've developed though research and work experience. Though psychometrics is largely a statistical field devoted to testing and measurement theory, I have applied research experience in psychology, public health, and environmental science. Psychometric theory is interesting, but using it in application is my primary career objective. Whether the topic is patient reported outcomes, development of clinical survey materials, educational assessment and scoring, or measurement of customer satisfaction, I know how to ensure the highest possible quality of assessment. In addition to psychometrics, I'm an adept statistician fluent in hierarchical mixed/multilevel modeling, longitudinal modeling, and generalized linear modeling (regression, ANOVA, etc.). I also have experience with Bayesian HLM and sampling methods. I can perform many of these analyses in multiple statistical programming languages, including R, SAS, SPSS, and STATA. If you were brought here by my application or resume's QR code, thank you for reading and considering me for a role with your organization.

Experience

Psychometrician
Chicago, Illinois
I create and update QoL, PRO, and CRO measures in order to better predict patient response to treatment and inform clinical practice using advanced psychometric methods and various flavors of longitudinal analysis. Additionally, I am developing an in-house, clinician-facing dashboard to disseminate information regarding inpatient progress through treatment, including the scores on these various measures. This dashboard also integrates other clinically-relevant information from the rest of my department, such as risk factors, patient satisfaction, and medical record history, all in real time. It combines patient-centered and evidence-based approaches in a way that is both understandable and actionable.

Research Associate
Columbus, Ohio Area
I performed analyses and visualized results in SAS and R on several ongoing projects for a clinical psychology faculty and his lab. Our research included the effect of psychosocial factors on wound healing, the effect of home environment, psychology, and food purchasing behavior on obesity, and psychological and physical stress related differences between men and women with family histories of cardiac disease. I also functioned as a consultant for lab investigators, providing instruction on topics like SAS programming, path analysis, psychometrics, moderation, mediation, and graphing in various statistical programming languages.

Statistical Consultant
Columbus, Ohio Area
I provided consulting services for psychology graduate students and post-doctoral researchers on a wide variety of statistical topics. I assisted these investigators on numerous projects including independent research, master’s theses, and doctoral dissertations. I have given guidance on topics such as statistical power, effect size, research design, hierarchical mixed modeling, item response theory, and factor analysis. Additionally, I have provided instructions for conducting these analyses in software like R, SAS, and SPSS.

Graduate Teaching Assistant
Columbus, Ohio Area
I conducted lab sessions and held office hours for both undergraduate and graduate statistics courses in the psychology department. I instructed students on a range of statistical topics including probability theory, power, effect size, hypothesis testing, and inference. I also taught students how to use R, SAS, and SPSS to clean and manage data, conduct tests, and visualize and interpret results.
Education

Psychometrics and Quantitative Psychology
I assisted researchers within the fields of public health and clinical psychology, performing psychometric and other statistical analyses. During this time, I also completed my dissertation. Dissertation: A Monte Carlo Investigation of Fit Statistic Differences in Limited- and Full- Information Measurement Models

Psychometrics and Quantitative Psychology
In addition to my thesis, I developed an array of statistical and programming skills (in R, SAS, SPSS, and Excel) through coursework (factor analysis, structural equation modeling, item response theory, and mixed modeling) and research. I had the opportunity to teach both undergraduate and graduate level statistics courses in the psychology department. Thesis: The Effect of Item Parameter Uncertainty on Test Reliability

Psychology
My undergraduate coursework in psychology was mostly spent determining which substantive area I wanted to study as a graduate student. During this time, I became enthusiastic about issues of psychological assessment and ability measurement, which decided the field in which I am currently pursuing my doctorate. I was the president of Psi Chi, the honors society for psychology students, during my senior year and graduated magna cum laude. Additionally, I worked as a tutor for introduction to psychology, biopsychology, and writing courses.
