Working within Slough Major Projects team that was undertaking the education, commercial and community projects as part of the Slough Urban Renewal (SUR) - a proud partnership between the Slough Borough Council and Morgan Sindall Investments. SUR is about creating iconic buildings, open spaces and connectivity, enhancing and improving local schools, providing high-quality new homes and leisure facilities. They aim to maximise the local community benefits by supporting local companies and raising schools and training. 

Managing the commercial responsibilities for the Eden House project that was secured by City Sq. Developments. It's an incredible mixed used development that is set in the heart of Kingston-upon-Thames and will offer bespoke commercial spaces as well as mixture of affordable and high-end residential units.

Managing the commercial role on a £6m EFA project based in Royal Borough of Greenwich, which is part of the Greenwich, Lewisham and Croydon batch of schools. Taking responsibility of the commercial team and ensuring all commercial aspects are covered, including reporting, consultant appointments, subcontractor procurement, client interface and final accounts. Ensuring the team and the senior management are informed and aware of any financial issues, enabling them to manage the risks accordingly. The project is due to handover shortly and will be ‘on time’ with zero RIDDORS and no snags.

Prime Construction was a division of the Elliott Thomas Group that dealt with a whole range of new build and refurbishment projects, including residential and mixed-use developments, office and industrial buildings, retail and leisure schemes and high profile health and education projects. Managing commercial responsibilities on a Commercial unit based in London & High Spec Student Accommodation project in the centre of Oxford valued at £8m from Stage 2 negotiations to practical completion.

Managing the commercial aspects including Procurement, Cost Control and Financial reconciliation and Reporting for projects within the PFS/EFA framework.

South Camden Community School, one of two 'sample schemes' part of the Building Schools for the Future programme (BSF) in London Borough of Camden. A £27m project which included the redevelopment of the existing Victorian school Buildings, remodelling of the Sports Centre and addition of new built Theatre/Music, Science, ICT faculties and over 20,000sq m of external landscaped areas and MUGA pitches. A challenging project being restricted financially due to the cancellation of the government funding scheme for the BSF programme, requiring close supervision and management of the sub-contract packages, change control and project valuations. Based on a Design & Build contract with a Target Cost Option, required close control over design development, extensive implementation of Value Engineering techniques to control the value and close interpretation of contract to administer change control. In charge of major subcontract packages from procurement to agreement of the final accounts. In addition I was required to Value and Track the client instructions, sub-contractor variation claims as well as order and negotiations for direct material procurement. In addition to the general management of package works the duties involved preparation of Cost/Value reports for internal reporting up-stream and tracking and preparation of Cash-flow forecasts to senior managers and directors.

My jobs included running and managing the company including filing returns, managing the finances as well as recruitment and supervision of staff and management of projects that we undertook. While in the office, I was required to make payments to the sub-contractors, suppliers and creating new accounts as well as balancing the books. While on site, I had to negotiate and communicate with clients as well as supervise works and order materials and plant. I was also responsible for procuring the Architectural drawings for the jobs we worked on, as well as creating the method statements and health and safety assessments. I also had to carry out quantity surveying as well as pricing the jobs that we wanted to take on.

Working for the Osborne Civil Engineering arm I was involved as a Trainee Setting out engineer on a number of major projects such as Shortlands Eurostar junction where we were responsible for setting out the alignment of new tracks and overhead bridge installations. I was also the lead engineer looking after the renovation & redevelopment works at the Hastings station and the rebuilding of the Brentford station. While holding this position, I acquired a lot of experience in problem solving, planning, surveying/setting out and project supervision and financial management. Working on several smaller refurbishment works in Hove on M&E installations, gave me additional insight into the M&E elements involved in projects.
