* As a Graduate Engineer for Assystem I have been given the opportunity to work alongside Rolls Royce working in tandem with their Design Solution process. Tasks I undertake as part of this include, * Generating conceptual designs to customer specification * Using Uni-graphics NX7.5 to create drawn design solutions * Writing reports detailing the design definition to the customer * Ensure that the design meets the customer’s requirements * Use DFMEA to evaluate design failure modes * Identify key design risks and apply mitigation actions * Discuss with manufacturers to ensure feasible design concepts are produced * Present designs to senior engineers and project teams for review * Carry out calculations associated with design work * Worked for Combustion on Research and Development projects. Projects included being the Lead Designer and Integrated Project Team Lead for the Combustion Casing on a Research and Development Engine. Co-ordinating Specialists to make decisions, driving the Project towards completion.

* I was given the opportunity from Assystem to complete my dissertation for my Masters degree in the form of a 10-week internship. * Within the 10 weeks, I had to take my project through multiple design stages including: * Generate a project plan containing tasks I want to achieve as well as a Gantt chart providing milestones that I needed to aim for * Compile multiple conceptual designs that could satisfy the problem * Model concepts on Unigraphics NX7.5 * Perform stress analysis using ANSYS workbench to rule out weak design solutions * Take final design solution forward for further stress analysis, ensuring it achieved all the design criteria provided. * Present final concept and conclusions to my university * Compile my design project in the form of a worded document to University guidelines
