We built an in-vehicle computer system ahead of its time: 2 touchscreen-based computer devices based on ARM architecture (using the low-power Intel XScale CPU), a custom electronic circuit to emulate a taximeter's job while reading wheel rotation pulses, an embedded card reader, GPS, modem, and printer. Managed R&D behind the creation of a complex hardware+software in-vehicle system for taxis; Wrote alpha prototype in Python and managed team of Java developers for the beta prototype; Assisted with selection of suppliers, provisional patents, and custom hardware circuit design; Transportopia, Inc. combined in-vehicle hardware and software with web based applications in a very unique way to make the most advanced technology available to the transportation company. Our initial focus was the taxi industry, focusing on delivering great value to passengers, drivers, and fleet owners.

Enterprise Search Company. Most of my focus was on R&D as I contributed to many innovative product features, solved many customer requests, and created a ton of crazy proof-of-concepts along the way. Also worked there between 2010 and 2011.

* My foray into a role that required very little (pretty much 0%) actual software development. Conducted requirements gathering sessions, communicated project status and milestones to work group * Documented business processes and workflows * Collaborated with marketing and merchandising teams to ensure successful deployment/launch of a new website * Kicked off a migration project to bring AEO’s loyalty program in-house * Documented e-commerce stack, primarily ATG Search and ATG Campaign Optimizer modules * Created pitches for innovative tech concepts, which never saw the light of the day, such as: a product catalog subscription using Apple's iTunes (not the App store) * a strategy to create a virtual store on SecondLife.com, a study to leverage new technologies for better in-store experience focusing on the "magic mirror" technology and RFID

Started as a software engineer working with the SQL Windows programming language, coding several financial processes (account payables / receivables) part of an ERP package focused on Brazil's complex financial laws and regulations. Eventually, I transitioned to the database team, and as a DBA team member, I helped configure, upgrade, and manage 10+ internal databases (Oracle, Server, Sybase, Informix) running on both NT and SCO-UNIX systems. Over time, I went on to write probably over 1,000 triggers and stored procedures (PL/SQL, T- SQL), creating scripts to remotely update customer’s databases with all required schema/data changes. I also provided database support to a team of about 40 developers.

* Being employee #5 and the first tech hire I saw this e-commerce+social+media startup grow really really fast, from the ground up. * Created early product specs and tech scope design based on the CEO/founder’s vision * Managed internal and offshore (3rd party) software engineering teams * Wrote lots of PHP (CodeIgniter,Drupal,etc.) and configured many Amazon AWS technologies * Managed team of business analysts assigned to scope a complete back office solution * Managed the site app release process and schedule, in coordination with the Tech Ops team * Wrote internal tools to allow the Business Teams (and CXX) to query live production site data

* Worked in many internal projects. * Data Architect and Database Administrator of the IT Benchmarking product, which was sold to customers looking to understand their own IT practices * Technical architect of a reverse-auction website for the e-sourcing of contingent workforce resources and services. Also managed the original development and QA teams, comprised of both onsite and offshore team members, and had a very active hands-on development role working with Microsoft ASP, Javascript and SQL Server. * Built internal tools in Python to automate repetitive MS-OFFICE/SQL analytical tasks * Architected, developed and successfully deployed many analytical systems to internal users * Designed and managed multiple SQL Server 2000, SQL Anywhere and MS-ACCESS databases

* Re-joined Vivisimo and continued to work in innovative/creative projects focused on bringing new capabilities to the product. Including the following tasks: * Principal engineer assigned to implement the result of a NSF-funded research project focused on discovering trends on text documents * Researched and created prototypes to evaluate JRuby on Rails capabilities, and the deployment of the enterprise search engine on the AWS platform * Co-wrote an Entity Linkage indexing engine in Java

Meaningfy, Inc. was a web-based company I founded in early 2012 to help businesses find meaningful insights in their data. Meaningfy® was an online competitive intelligence platform used to track news, trends, and insights. Users would receive daily email news alert notifications and have access to a dashboard of insights. Between January and May 2013, Meaningfy participated in a startup accelerator program aimed at helping companies get their products off the ground. The AlphaLab program (alphalab.org) has been named one of the top startup accelerators in the country. AlphaLab is a program of Innovation Works, the most active seed-stage investor in Pittsburgh. Between June and September of 2013, Meaningfy joined Idea Foundry's Transformation Fellowship Program. Idea Foundry (ideafoundry.org) is a Pittsburgh based non-profit organization that helps transform technologies created by local entrepreneurs into viable commercial businesses.
