In Nov 1998 I turned full-time entrepreneur engaging in several business ventures in China and Germany. By early 2004, due to changes in business environment and an offer to return to Schering I sold my shares in the remaining ventures and rejoined the corporate world. ● Together with Chinese partners opened two very successful hospitality ventures in Guangzhou: THE CAVE pub and MILANO'S Italian restaurant. Led business development and marketing ● Established an antique Chinese furniture and home accessories business in Guangzhou. Led business development and marketing ● Apr 1999 expanded the furniture business to Germany by establishing Kanton Kontor Handelsgesellschaft in Berlin. With a junior partner managing retail sales in Germany I directed business planning, marketing strategy and sourcing from Guangzhou. Furniture business closed in Dec 2001 due to a change in consumer trends. ● Provided consulting services to third parties. In 2001 I provided due diligence and project management services for Schering’s acquisition of an oncology company in Nanjing. From 2002 to 2004 I advised Mandarin Pacific Trade, an American owned home accessories company based in Guangzhou, on the improvement of their customer and vendor order processes.
