Venture for America is a fellowship for recent grads who want to learn how to build a business while making an impact. VFA Fellows get training and join a startup in an emerging US city, where they live and work for two years at one of our hundreds of partner companies. They learn hands-on what it takes to build a company, while getting the mentorship, network, and ongoing support to prepare themselves to become successful entrepreneurs. Oversaw teams of canvassers across the D.C. metropolitan area 50 hours per week, personally raising over $350 daily to become the only first-year manager to raise over $15,000 for the summer season. In addition to canvassing duties, structured multi-week strategies to maximize fundraising and outreach goals in given zip codes via data analysis, specialized software, and talent assessment.

Built grassroots public support for closing Clean Water Act loopholes by talking with over 180 Virginians weekly. Worked full time to remain in the top decile of canvassers nationally, consistently raising over $200 daily.

Wrote one page issue briefs, formal letters, talking points, and mass emails for internal and Congressional distribution. Conducted long-term research projects with a focus on Voting Rights Act court cases using data analysis and visualization, graphic design techniques, and targeted writing skills. Represented NALEO at specialized briefings and meetings on the Hill and executed various administrative tasks.

Initiated program to meet federal benchmarks for meaningful use of electronic health record technology, placing healthcare practice on track to receive more than $60,000 in incentives over six years.
