Andreas Bönsch

After completing my studies and training, I sought an environment where I could demonstrate my skills and ideas. I found this opportunity at a small software company in Karlsruhe, where I was able to optimize and expand the server infrastructure according to my vision. What I found particularly fulfilling was working on projects that went beyond the traditional IT field, such as contributing to the research projects SmartTool(++) and Andrupos. The creative problem-solving of complex challenges has fascinated me from the start. In search of new challenges, I joined Echobot, a dynamic company in Karlsruhe. Together with a motivated team of about 40 people, I worked on advancing the company. The more complex infrastructure provided more room for optimizations. In a short time, the team grew to over 120 employees, and the number of servers increased to more than 400. As part of this growth, the company decided to move to a new, modern location, for which I planned and implemented the technical infrastructure from scratch. This involved positioning each network connection, procuring the technology, and communicating with all parties involved. Despite challenges, I was able to develop sustainable solutions that continue to be effective today. One of the most fulfilling aspects was designing a network concept according to the highest security standards using custom-configured hardware and tailored software solutions. In 2022, Echobot merged with Leadfeeder to form Dealfront. My role evolved from Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to Team Lead for Data Infrastructure. New responsibilities included migrating the bare-metal infrastructure to the cloud and developing a cost-efficient, scalable solution using open-source technologies. This in-house development is a central component of the infrastructure that my team and I manage. My team is at the heart of my work. Together, we are shaping the company’s infrastructural future. Leading this team has allowed me to grow both professionally and personally. Today, my main responsibilities include combining custom solutions with established technologies such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, sharing knowledge, and providing optimal working conditions for developers. I look forward with excitement to the future of information technology and am eager for new challenges that require innovative solutions.
