As the primary legal assistant, I was responsible for obtaining medical records and billing from providers of personal injury clients, managing all subrogation and insurance interests, and corresponding with clients, other attorneys, and courts. I frequently drafted demand letters and complaints that were sent to insurance companies and filed with the courts. In addition to learning crucial management skills by overseeing other employees, I was able to gain valuable knowledge by shadowing associates on day-to-day legal work and attending court proceedings.

As an intern in the office of Member of Parliament Charlie Angus in the Canadian House of Commons, I responded to constituent needs, researched current legislation and performed secretarial duties. I was also able to attend sessions of Question Period, committee meetings for the Standing Committee on Privacy and Ethics and other meetings of political importance.
