My goal is to use my experience in industry and academics to support companies in the drug development space, specifically focusing on all aspects of the preclinical side of drug development. Over the last 5 years my experience in the development of extended release formulations has given me a strong understanding of what is needed in a preclinical program to be successful in getting a drug product from early development stages to patients in the clinic.

My thesis focused on characterizing mutations in the VSX1/Vsx1 gene which is expressed in retinal cells and was previously linked to two disease in humans that affect the cornea, Posterior Polymorphous Dystrophy (PPD) and Keratoconus. My methodology included a variety of in vitro methods including, cellular expression models, western blots and immunolabeling and an in vivo mouse model where a specific Vsx1 mutation was introduced via CRISPR.
