About
I’m a self-driven and demanding engineer leader that, since a young kid, has been passionate about technology and how it can improve the world. Regardless of the domain I’m working with, I’m always trying to optimize the impact I can produce and find better ways to do it. Being a natural team player, it was always important for me to share a vision and purpose with others. That made the transition to leadership roles an obvious choice, where I found new enjoyment in helping others grow - as leaders or individuals - and drive them to success.

Engineering Manager - Software Engineer
Lisbon Area, Portugal
I have assembled and managed several distributed teams, in its peak with 15 to 20 people working in different products. I took part on the hiring of new team members and definition of team composition, mentored and coached team leads or other members of the teams. I was responsible for their career development by helping set individual objectives and by providing or evangelizing initiatives for their growth, such as internal knowledge sharing, public presentations and talks or access to conferences and certifications on their area of expertise. The most important behaviors I try to cultivate in my teams are: - collaboration and teamwork - autonomy with a purpose or common goal - continuous improvement while focused on delivering results. I also guided and supported technological decisions on architectural topics, stack, monitoring, scale and testing. These approaches resulted in team members promoted to senior roles, pro-active teams focused on problem solving and high performance autonomous teams with proven results.

Technical Lead - Software Developer
Oeiras, Portugal
Developed and supported several games, from physics games to real-time multiplayer games, that were used by more than 1M daily users. My roles in these ranged from tech leading, development of new features, support of released applications, gameplay programming, UI programming, client-server networking, third-party integrations and meeting with the different stakeholders for the planning of development and project definition. I was involved in the full development cycle of several mobile applications, from initial prototype and planning into release, having dealt with all the CI processes and app packaging and submission. I was also involved in developing internal libraries that were used in several other projects to allow seamless integration of different third-party services such as social networks, analytics and advertisement providers. I was always keen to improve the way we did things and was part of the group of people who evangelized the use of certain technologies and that took part on the improvement of the internal processes and architecture. Working in Miniclip was important as it allowed me to work on big projects, with several different teams and stakeholders. Since I started, the company grew from 20 to 80+ employees, giving me the opportunity to grow while working with people of distinct backgrounds and goals, which was an extremely rewarding experience. It also showed me the growing pains of companies and the importance of data and iteration on the daily business.
