Amy Saenger
Director, Demand Generation and Growth Marketing @ The Predictive Index
About
I grew up on a dirt road in Vermont. We had a turkey business, a $2 breakfast rule, and a dad who made sure you understood early that showing up was just the minimum. I didn't plan to end up in demand generation. I'm not even sure the term really existed at the time I entered the workforce...proven by the fact that my first real job out of college was selling Yellow Pages ads. I lasted six months before getting fired. (Fair, honestly.) From there I landed in marketing (email, events, whatever needed doing) until I found a manager who actually saw how my brain worked. She pushed my creativity, taught me to trust data, and made me better at both. I followed her to her next company. Looking back, she's probably the reason I care as much as I do about the people on my team. I've been collecting marketing alphabet soup ever since ... SEM, ABM, PPC, CRO, community, content ... until I found where it all clicks: demand generation. It's the air traffic controller of marketing. You're managing a thousand moving pieces, and the pipeline either moves or it doesn't. Hot take: most demand gen programs are built for the 5% of buyers who are already ready to purchase. The other 95%, the ones quietly forming opinions, doing research, deciding what they think of you before anyone ever talks to sales, get ignored. That's where trust is made or lost. And trust is what eventually becomes pipeline. The hard part? Selling that argument to Sales and Finance who are, rightfully, focused on this quarter's numbers. You can't just be right about your strategy. You have to build enough trust with the people around you that they'll let you run the play. I've spent the last five years at The Predictive Index building that engine — owning strategy across a full-funnel demand gen team at a B2B SaaS company in the HR tech space. And the 8 years before that? Picking up every piece of the puzzle it takes to run one. Right now I'm documenting what it actually looks like bringing AI onto my team, including the messy, iterative, sometimes wrong version. The part nobody talks about: it's not the individual builds that are hard. It's connecting them across a team so the expertise doesn't stay stuck inside one person's workflow. That's the problem I'm most interested in solving. If you're navigating the same thing, follow along. If you're building a demand gen function and want a second set of eyes on your funnel, your AI stack, your messaging, or something else entirely - I'm open to a 30-minute conversation. No pitch, just thinking out loud together. DM me or connect.
