Amy Roberts

I work with two other students and an associate professor in the Department of Landscape Architecture at UIUC on designing a prototype of a vegetation buffer system for schools in Chicago. The project is a multi-agency partnership consisting of US EPA, ELPC, CRTI, the Morton Arboretum, USFS, and CPS. My role involves providing knowledge on horticulture and planting design to the team from a student's perspective.

I worked closely with the project construction team and in collaboration with the design team to assist them with their ongoing projects. My daily tasks involved the following: - Preparing detailed base models for and communicated openly with the design team - Modeling construction details in SketchUp and prepared construction documents for projects created by designers - Assisting the construction team with material inspections and project progress checks on site - Presenting construction documentation to clients and answered their technical questions

I provided customer service and hospitality to senior citizens that live independently at Park Place of Elmhurst. My daily tasks involved the following: - Multitasking by taking orders, running out food, and cleaning tables in a busy work environment - Interacting with a variety of customers and further developed interpersonal communication skills - Adapting to new challenges on a daily basis with patience and confidence

I studied abroad in Sweden at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in Fall of 2022. While there, I took coursework in planting design and large scale planning.
