Served over 100 clients annually, assuming significant responsibility over matters including employment law, health insurance, public benefits, consumer law, housing, guardianship, special education, immigration, and more. Established Medical-Legal Partnerships with Harborview Medical Center, Seattle Children’s Autism Center, and Sea Mar Community Health Centers. Developed pro bono program to expand capacity.

Managed a federal misdemeanor caseload by developing a defense for clients from arraignment to trial. Researched and wrote memos and pleadings on topics ranging from sentencing and restitution to the commerce clause. Appeared in court to represent clients for trial, arraignments, and pleas.

Researched and wrote about legal issues in employment, civil rights, and property law. Conducted client meetings. Drafted correspondence including demand letters and requests for records. Traveled to migrant camps in central Washington distributing information and speaking with farm workers about employment law.

Investigated misdemeanor, felony, and dependency cases. Located and interviewed witnesses, victims, police officers, and doctors. Wrote reports of interviews for use by attorneys in preparation for and during trial. Photographed and mapped crime scenes for submission into evidence. Obtained medical and criminal histories.

Directed six-week cultural exchange and health education project in conjunction with Mexican government officials. Trained and managed seven-person project staff and 54 volunteers in 24 communities. Managed budget of approximately $32,000. Prepared grant proposals and reviewed requests for project funds.
