About
There are two principals that guide my decisions in life. One is by Dave Ramsey, “Financial peace isn't the acquisition of stuff. It's learning to live on less than you make, so you can give money back and have money to invest. You can't win until you do this." The second is by Warren Buffet, “It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you’ll do things differently.” Growing up in a family with a strong entrepreneurial background, the value of money and business growth had been ingrained in my DNA and following a career in investment seemed like a natural progression. I thrive in this environment where the decisions made impact the long-term sustainability of the company almost daily, and this makes managing and mitigating risk more important than endeavouring to earn high returns. As part of the audience of the phenomenon of events which impact global equity markets, I endeavour to remain focussed while examining each situation with a 360-degree lens. Being a voracious reader is an asset with this regard and is a necessary stimulant. Peers recognise me as one of the first stock brokers to regularly feature on a television show, a journey which began in the late 90s with the advent of business channels in India, and which has continued for more than two decades. Independent Directorships with Manugraph, Phoenix Mills and Sutlej Textiles and Industries allowed me to contribute to the journey of improving governance standards, while giving me an opportunity to connect with industry stalwarts. I have been on the investment committees of The Cricket Club of India Limited and The Willingdon Sports Club, Mumbai, where I have substantially contributed to the incorporation of better SOPS and investment decision-making parameters. On the personal front, I enjoy a good hand of Bridge to rejig the brain cells. Contributing to programs to improve community health and education and to individuals directly are social causes I support regularly as trustee of Tavascor Charitable Trust and Motigauri Charitable Trust.
