About
Called to the Bar of England and Wales by the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple in July 2014 - achieved Very Competent. Completed the MLAW degree (an integrated masters degree) at Northumbria University - achieved 2.1. Currently specialising in all aspects of Criminal Law with a special interest in domestic abuse and sexual violence. Previously funded by the Ministry of Justice to deliver a pre-trial outreach service to vulnerable and intimidated witnesses giving evidence in criminal trials, I was responsible for managing the service across the North East and ensuring VIWs are adequately prepared for attending court. Successfully piloted two specialised mental health projects within Victim Support which focused on the criminal victimisation of those with mental health problems; across all crime type. I created a list of bespoke recommendations to the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner of County Durham and Darlington and South Tees CCG.

citizens advice
Managing the outreach service for vulnerable and intimidated witnesses giving evidence in criminal trials. The service is provided in all three counties in the North East by trained volunteers, overseen by myself, and includes meeting vulnerable and intimidated witnesses away from the court environment, either at their home or other agreed safe place, to assess their needs and provide support. Together with the witness, and where appropriate their carer/support worker/parent/guardian, develop a tailored plan of preparation and support.

mental health and wellbeing development and caseworker
victim support
Providing advocacy and support services to vulnerable victims of crime with experience of mental health problems. Managing a team of dedicated volunteers as well as acting as a caseworker in those complex cases where the victim had severe mental illness or had been a victim of a serious offence. Navigating the criminal justice process, this service allowed those victims with mental health problems to access further support tailored to their needs whilst feeling validated and believed at all times.
