* Performed research in bioprocess engineering focusing on the optimization of operating conditions for the bioreactor-based production of industrially-relevant products by recombinant yeast * Accumulated experience with bioreactor operation, including setup, sterilization, sterile inoculation, process monitoring and control, sample collection and analysis, reactor shutdown and re-initialization procedures. * Gained proficiency in experimental design, model development, and statistical analysis of results.

* Worked as a member of the Human Health Therapeutics team to develop biological compounds with the potential to cross the human blood-brain barrier to treat Parkinson’s disease. Responsibilities included: * Quality assurance and control * Labeling protein compounds of interest with fluorescent dyes and testing their uptake in various cell models via immunocytochemistry ; Testing the ability of these compounds to activate known cellular signaling pathways involved in neuronal signaling via Western blotting * Developed skills in immunocytochemistry, immunohistochemistry, protein labeling, cell viability assays, and mammalian cell culture.

* Honour’s thesis in Biochemistry: The Role of Acetylation in Xylose Fermentation in Saccharomyces cerevisiae, and it’s application in Ethanol and Biofuel Production * Developed skills in immunopurifications, Western blotting, PCR, qPCR, yeast genetics and fermentation, and enzymatic assays.
