As the HR Manager at TFSS, I lead the organization’s HR function with a focus on supporting our people so they can do their best work in helping students thrive. I collaborate with senior leadership to understand organizational goals and translate them into practical, people-focused strategies. I oversee all core areas of HR, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compensation and HR compliance. I manage WSIB claims, support workplace health and safety, and have led training initiatives—including launching an internal learning platform. I also develop and implement HR policies that reflect our evolving needs. In a dynamic, mission-driven environment, I work to build thoughtful HR practices that support staff, align with our values, and drive sustainable growth.

I was the only HR person in an organization with 200+ people. I handled all aspects of HR, from day-to-day support to long-term planning. I led everything from hiring and employee relations to compensation, benefits, and compliance. I also developed new HR programs to better support staff and improve how we work. A big part of my focus was building a positive, supportive workplace and making sure our HR efforts matched the organization’s goals.

In my role as an HR Business Partner, I worked closely with business leaders to put effective people strategies into action. I partnered with the HR Centre of Excellence and HR Service Centre to deliver practical support that met both individual and organizational needs. I provided advice on a range of areas, including employee engagement, training and development, succession planning, compensation, change management, and hiring.

As HR Manager, I supported the full range of HR responsibilities while also improving how we hired and brought new employees on board. I streamlined our recruitment and onboarding processes to make them more efficient and consistent. Alongside the usual HR functions—like employee relations, compensation, and compliance—I was also involved in health and safety initiatives, including supporting our COR audit.

As the HR and Recruitment Manager, I led a small but agile HR team of three in a fast-paced, high-growth start-up in the camps and catering industry. I oversaw high-volume hiring and onboarding, handled employee relations and investigations, and ensured our camps were fully staffed to meet rapid expansion needs. I also managed the placement team, helping them stay ahead of changing demands and tight timelines. The role required constant adaptability, quick problem-solving, and a strong focus on people during a time of rapid growth.

As an HR Advisor in a high-growth, fast-paced environment, I was a trusted and resourceful partner to leaders, offering practical guidance on HR policies, compliance, and day-to-day HR matters. I oversaw hiring and onboarding, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience that supported rapid organizational growth. I also supported recruitment efforts involving Indigenous communities, working closely with the manager responsible for partnerships. Alongside this, I led complex workplace investigations and contributed to workforce planning and forecasting. The role required adaptability, sound judgment, and a people-first approach in a constantly evolving environment.

Before moving into the HR Advisor role, I worked as an HR Coordinator where I managed full-cycle recruitment and onboarding for both corporate roles and high-volume field positions. I led the development and rollout of the company’s Indigenous recruitment strategy and process. I also supported a range of HR programs, including leaves of absence, short- and long-term disability, vacation tracking, and service awards. It was a hands-on role that required strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
