Alshimaa Ebrahim
Vice President @ TEDx BUA
About
I am a Bioinformatics and Molecular Biology Research Trainee and a Medical Biotechnology student with hands-on experience in genomic data science, molecular biology techniques, and biomedical research methods. My work combines laboratory experimentation with computational analysis, with a focus on genomics, transcriptomics, and biomarker research. Through laboratory training and specialized academic programs, I have developed practical experience in molecular biology workflows and experimental research. My work includes applying techniques such as PCR, SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, protein quantification, and biomarker analysis, as well as supporting research through sample preparation, protocol implementation, data collection, and analysis. Alongside laboratory experience, I have completed professional coursework in bioinformatics, genomic data science, and systems biology from institutions including UC San Diego and Johns Hopkins University. 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐀𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬: • 1st place – NASA Space Apps Challenge, contributing as a researcher on the team. • 1st place – Orange AI Hackathon, demonstrating innovation in AI and scientific problem-solving. • 1st place – SCI National Scientific Competition for excellence in research and innovation. • 3rd place – Entrepreneurship Track at the Sole Biotechnology Competition. • Founder of Dr. Air Pro, a project focused on developing an early detection device for lung cancer. 𝐌𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐬 include molecular biology techniques, genomic data analysis, bioinformatics fundamentals, research methodology, and scientific problem-solving. I also contribute to leadership and collaboration through roles in initiatives such as TEDx and the Hult Prize. I am building my career in bioinformatics, genomics, and biomedical research, aiming to contribute to research teams and innovation-driven projects that advance biotechnology and precision medicine.
