About
Almina is a passionate student from Almaty, Kazakhstan. Being a scholar at Haileybury Almaty, she demonstrates high academic performance and involvement. She earned a DECA International Chapter Vice President position and co-hosted competitions for local high school students. Almina has founded a non-profit organization, which aims to provide opportunities for self-actualization to kids in orphanages in three cities in Kazakhstan. In addition to different workshops offered, Almina teaches children art and design. Her creative power and innovation let her diversify Bayitu into different areas. Almina was not afraid to implement merchandise sales, documentary shooting, and various sponsorship programs into the operations of her non-profit. Her skills were greatly appreciated by the Professors at the University of Pennsylvania who mentor her on transformative leadership as part of the membership of the Global Possibility Network. To raise funds, she also sells her self-created artworks online and tutors maths. Almina stays active on her food blog account, which has passed a milestone of 32k followers. She continues her education outside of school and has attended the Yale Summer Session in the summer of 2022 and the Wharton Global Youth “Leadership in the Business World” program in the summer of 2023. Almina values analytical and social skills. Her main areas of interest are Business Economics and Mathematics, which she will be studying at Brown University starting Fall 2024. She would love to connect!

Mentoree
I was honored to have been chosen as one of six young entrepreneurs from around the world to undertake mentorship from UPenn GSE Professors, Flavio Serapiao, Michael J. Nakkula, and John Gamba, as part of Bayitu's membership of the Global Possibility Network. I am currently mentored in transformative leadership, internal innovation, and expansion. I have been invited to be a co-author of a book on international social organizations, which is expected to be published by the Wharton School in 2024.

Founder
Almaty, Kazakhstan
Bayitu is a non-profit organization based in Kazakhstan that aims to help find and develop the interests of children in local orphanages through conducting regular workshops. We provide an opportunity for self-actualization by exposing the kids to various disciplines, from math tutoring to bracelet-making and neuroscience. Bayitu does fundraising through local sponsoring companies and organizes charity events. The money is used for supporting orphanages and purchasing workshop supplies. Bayitu team also organizes donation events where toys, books, and clothes are collected and distributed among the children at local orphanages.
