The South of Scotland Economic Partnership is the body charged by the Scottish Government with the design and delivery of a new economic development agency covering the South of Scotland. The agency will commence operations in April 2020 after the primary legislation received Royal ascent in July 2019. Leading the business support theme, I have worked with Scottish Enterprise, Local Councils, Skills Development Scotland and a number of business groups to assess the current public sector support offered to businesses in the South of Scotland, in the form of grants, loans and practical support from a variety of agencies, and advised Scottish Government on methods to streamline and improve access to support - fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the South of Scotland.
