About
I believe being with people is the most powerful mental health tool we have. And the most meaningful thing any of us can do is be the best part of someone else's day.Social media was supposed to make that easier. Instead, it runs on the loneliness economy, engineered to keep us watching instead of showing up.I’m a clinical psychologist who spent years watching this machine get built. Now, as Cofounder & Chief Science Officer at Oriscen, I am actively building the technology to fight back. We are creating the digital bridge to the physical world. Using behavioral science to optimize for offline attendance, mutual effort, and real chemistry so people can skip the small talk and find their crew.My obsession with why friendship is getting harder stems from my clinical roots. I spent a decade at New York's best hospitals treating anxiety, panic, and social anxiety disorders before leaving my role as Assistant Professor at Columbia University Medical Center to make mental health education accessible to everyone. That work grew into a YouTube channel with over 350,000 subscribers and 20 million views. My work has been featured on Netflix, HBO, and The New York Times. I also once got roasted by John Oliver on Last Week Tonight, which felt like a strange but solid endorsement.I live in the San Francisco Bay Area with my wife, our two kids, and a lot of books about Star Trek, psychology, and the future.People, not pixels 🖖🏽

Chief Science Officer

At Oriscen, we are building the digital bridge to the physical world. As Chief Science Officer, I lead the integration of psychological principles and behavioral science into our community-building frameworks. My work focuses on reversing the loneliness economy. Instead of optimizing for screen time, I model human dynamics to optimize for offline attendance, mutual effort, and real chemistry. Key Focus Areas: Architecting Connection: Designing the psychological frameworks that allow users to skip the small talk and bond over shared experiences. High-Value Matching: Developing systems that ensure users meet people who actually show up and are a good fit. Behavioral Product Design: Bridging the gap between psychology and technology to mitigate social friction, reduce the mental load of initiating, and make real-world connection feel natural and accessible.
