I have gained experience working as an intern to the fashion stylist Beth Buxton, in which I learnt the process of collecting and returning fashion samples, categorising and researching designers and labels, filing and admin skills and good communication skills when making returns and pickups with PR companies.

I have completed an independent dissertation on the topic of language attitudes towards British regional accents. For this piece of work I had to undertake my own research, create my own deadlines and learn valuable skills surrounding time management, initiative and self-motivation. As I was only able to meet with my tutor a limited number of times, I had to organise myself and take advice constructively in order to better my work. I have learnt key communicational skills from assessed presentations; this has broadened my expertise by learning to consolidate a strong argument or speech to be performed within a specific time frame. I have gained knowledge in how to both analyse language and write for particular purposes and in varied styles, which I have put into use with my journalism outside the classroom. The course has taught me skills through research essays into quantitative learning, with modules in statistics, spreadsheets and the SPSS programme.
