Career Highlights • Project leader for the branding and launch project for A*STAR (formerly National Science and Technology Board) which includes all the 13 research institutes, 2 Research Councils and one privatized arm, Exploit Technologies. • Project leader for the launch of the $500 million National Science Scholarships (NSS) Program to nurture local research talents in Singapore all the way to Ph.D. level. The launch was accompanied with aggressive local and overseas advertising campaign, pre and post media coverage, road shows, seminars and launch of interactive website which attracted overwhelming applications to NSS in the first year. • Led the planning and implementation of the inaugural Science.01 month (former TechMonth), a one-month long national publicity event with over 100 activities/events to promote research, science and technology in Singapore. Science.01’s launch activities comprised of an aggressive advertising campaign and media plan. A new website was also put up to promote the month’s activities. • Led a team in the conceptualisation and implementation of the National Science and Technology Awards Dinner 2001, a national gala dinner with over 1000 guests to accord recognition for outstanding research scientists. • Organized press conferences for A*STAR’s new initiatives, national research survey results and organizational/management changes, news on biomedical updates which garnered nearly 100% coverage among local media. • Helped newly established Exploit Technologies in implementing the marketing and publicity plan to sell their services to the target audience.
